Philli Wood x Warehouse

Our beloved British high-street brand, Warehouse continues its partnership with the British Fashion Council to find the next fashion design talent. The graduate design student is chosen by a panel of industry experts – including the likes of Lisa Bryne (Design Director at Warehouse) and Caroline Rush, the Chief Executive at the BFC. This season the judges voted for the inspiring work from Philli Wood

Comprised of 12 pieces, Wood developed her ideas of the oversized modern parka (keeping key features such as the traditional welt pockets, drawstrings and orange linings) for the main piece of the collection. Playfully redeveloping the scale of her details – note the cables range from supersized on the techno parka to smaller and diminutive for her colour-popping lightweight dresses – Wood really brings a fresh new twist to this (the parka) and many other British wardrobe staples. Alongside the parka, Wood introduced chunky knitwear, deciding to print the cable knit to make it contemporary; liking the way it created an illusion of knitwear but using lightweight nylon fabrics. 

‘The collection was initially inspired by American Indian intuits. I experimented with large oversized silhouettes and chunky knitwear. I printed images of cable knits onto exaggerated shapes to give the illusion of knitwear. The bright, clashing colour palette was inspired by installation artist Dan Flavin who uses florescent strip lights.’

The collection starts from £26 to £140 and is available in selected Warehouse stores and online from 13th February 2013 – just in time for London Fashion Week!
