So…it may be a touch late, but better
late than never. Unfortunately, I didn’t actually make High Street Fashion Week
due to a delightful illness that wreaked havoc over the entire weekend.
Luckily, journalist Suzi Dixon was on hand with this nifty guest blog on the
fabulous fashion scene and beauty essentials that we’ll all need for fabulous
festival style and hair….
"Whatever
your hair type, dry shampoo is an essential part of your hair toolkit. In this
Facebook age, you can’t get away with greasy roots and limp style, even when
you are at a festival. Camera phones are everywhere and you don’t want your
undone do broadcast across the Internet.
Batiste
(www.batistehair.co.uk)
are a brilliant British brand who have expanded from one classic product into a
stable of fun and fabulous styling sprays. This summer, they will be working
with Vanity Van (www.vanityvan.co.uk)
at Glastonbury Festival, with a team of stylists on hand to revive tired locals
and get you photo-ready.
The Vanity Van team will be using Batiste’s newest products and offering style advice. This weekend’s High Street Fashion Week was the team’s chance to trial the products on models, celebs and VIPs. The Vanity Van suite was packed after each catwalk show, with Batiste dry styling a popular speedy treatment.
First and foremost, those after a voluminous look - perhaps a boho beehive or bouncy ponytail - will love new Batiste XXL Volume dry shampoo. Its best used sprayed into dry hair, around 30cm from the roots - massage into scalp and shake out for instant lift.
Another new Batiste favourite is XXL Plumping Powder , to help you achieve gravity defying styles. Models with stressed out hair from over-styling were also revived by the new Batiste Smoothing Conditioning Mist, created to immediately nourish and smooth the ends of your hair making sure that it looks as fabulous as you do throughout the night.
Vanity Van hairstylist David Wright loves the new additions to the range. “The products are amazing,” he said. “Über cool, I would say."
High Street
Fashion Week was a place to be inspired on two levels. Of course, there were
gorgeous clothes, shoes, swimwear and accessories to inspire your summer
wardrobe. But it was the faces behind the labels that were the most inspiring.
Entrepreneurs, mostly young, mostly female, all Britain-based, producing
stunning fashion that will be coveted the world over.
The event
was in two parts. By day, guests could shop til they drop at Boxpark Shoreditch
(www.boxpark.co.uk);
by night, Aura Mayfair (www.auramayfair.com) hosted the evening shows. Staff at
both venues were fantastic and contributed to the party atmosphere throughout
the weekend.
The Vanity
Van (www.vanityvan.co.uk) VIP area was fully booked from start to finish, with
hot new products being used and gifted. Batiste, Miners Cosmetics and Red
Carpet Manicure are all Vanity Van partners and will be glamming up celebs,
VIPs and festival-goers on their summer tour.
Here are my
top three picks from last weekend’s shows:
JBanks
JBanks, a
hot new label that aims to put the ‘sensational’ back into summer holidays. Pieces
are hand-made, adorned with bling and adorable. It’s glamour at its finest and
certainly not swimwear suitable for 50 laps in the hotel pool! As well as
crystals and glitter, there are also some gorgeous neon bikinis, very on-trend
for summer 2013.
Roxie Sweetheart
Award-winning
young entrepreneur Michelle Lauren Hirst really is a sweetheart. Her range of
quirky jewellery is inspired by sweets with a Harajuku edge. Colourful
hand-drawn designs are drenched in glitter and there are some stunning pastel
designs that will go well with your spring wardrobe and survive into summer. I
loved the unicorn motifs - majestic and mystical - just £18 for a sweater pin
with added pearls.
The Holiday Boutique
From
celeb-inspired hot bikinis to The Statement Range, swimwear adorned with the
message of your choice, The Holiday Boutique has a mix of fun and affordable
fashion perfect for that last minute break away. The website also stocks useful
extras such as cover-ups and pop bands, the no-dent hair band to keep your sun-swept
locks out of the way while you sunbathe."
